St Margaret's Community Trust

There has been a church in Ward End since the middle ages but regular weekly services ceased in 2005. As a basically sound and much loved landmark building church leaders decided in 2006 rather than allow the building to fall into decay to see if the building could be put to other uses.
Following months of consultation with local residents, community groups, local councillors etc. St Margaret’s Community Trust was set up to provide care and support for people who live in the Ward End area and in particular the Overpool estate.

You have told us that the community of Ward End are in need of :-

  • multi-use indoor space for all ages over 5 years
  • informal outdoor recreation space for all ages over 5 years
  • a 'community hub' where specialist organisations can offer their services (e.g. employment agencise, debt advice etc...) and where residents can get independant, confidential information, advice and signposting
  • a communal space for the community to meet, share a cup of tea, chat and celebrate its cultures and history
  • a sacred space dedicated for prayer and quiet reflection
St Margaret's Community Trust are now working on behalf of the people of Ward End and the Overpool Estate to make these desires a reality.
